Fixing A Stratocaster With Metro Tickets!
Height Issue
My first Stratocaster is one of my favorite instruments (even though it is not a real Fender Strat), but I have always had a problem with the height of the strings next to the bridge.
The action on the neck is fine, but the bridge had to be setup way too low and the strings are really close to the body:
This has caused two major issues for me with this guitar:
- The screws of the saddles are hurting my right hand.
- The strings are very close to the body, so it is sometimes difficult to play with the right hand.
As far as I know, the only way to fix this is to adjust the angle of the neck. But there is no tilt adjustment screw available on this strat… So I ended up using old metro tickets to fix it… Here’s how!
Adjusting Angle of the Neck
In oder to adjust the angle of the neck and increase the height of the strings on the side of the bridge, I simply used two old (used) metro tickets (from Paris):
Put the neck back in place with the screws and voilĂ ! The angle is now perfect, and the strings are now higher as desired, with the same action as before!
You can hear this strat on this tune:
