Transcribing & Learning Your Own Solos

Transcribing & Learning Your Own Solos

Transcribing an learning your own guitar solos is a great exercise… And playing together with yourself to check you got these licks right is not bad either!

Improvisation is at the heart of the music I like to play & write. Although I hate playing twice the same thing, transcribing and re-learning a solo that you have improvised gives you a chance to remember the vocabulary and extend your improvisation capabilities.

It is also a unique opportunity to listen to yourself and the way you play, which greatly helps improving your improvisation (and playing) skills…

Here is me trying to learn Steps Inside today, on a wonderful PRS NF53 guitar.
